Some quick history...
Aurora Graphics is owned by Dave
and Glenda (Tootie) Dorsey of Wichita, Ks. We both have been in the vinyl
business since 1980 when we first met. (with Tootie having about 1 year longer
in the biz than myself) After 5 years employment by a major vinyl converter here
in Wichita, we decided to marry and start our own business doing hand cut
lettering and custom vinyl graphic installation in 1985. About that time, the
first computer driven cutter was born, the Gerber 4B. Seeing the potential for
using a computer driven plotter to cut vinyl, we set off on a search to find one
that would enable us to cut graphics as well as lettering. We ended up buying
one of the first HTD-clone systems that was the brain child of Joe Dattoli of
Supplies Unlimited in Mass. Funny how that worked out because Joe is a long-time
friend and now a valued distributor of Aurora Graphics products. I began
digitizing custom graphics and eventually began to sell the vectorized art on
diskette 13 years ago. That first design computer we used was a 386 operating in
DOS with no mouse. All the commands were 2 key strokes. That machine had 16mb of
RAM, and a 40mb hard drive and we viewed the process on a 13" CRT monitor. We
bought all of our programs on 5.5" floppy disks and published on 3.5" diskettes
which held just over 1mb each. Our first plotter was a brand-new, state of the
art Texas Instruments DMP-65-C 15" friction fed tangential head cutter. We later
abandoned that cutter and purchased Graphtec machines and eventually owned 3 of
those bullet-proof cutters working away in our shop here in Wichita. We
eventually bought a Gerber EDGE and used it for 9 years before retiring that
machine for a Roland VersaCamm inkjet.
Publishing art to the industry...
Aurora Graphics was formed as a
publisher of digital art design to the vinyl industry July, 1995. Over this 13
year span we have brought block-buster titles to market including The "Custom
Vehicle Graphics Library" which evolved into the Millennium Edition GOLD, and
the Platinum Edition. Then came our first print / cut solutions Raven 3D Magic
and 1 Spot Magic. Closely after that 3D Metal Machine and the Print Craft Pro
Fills 1 and then Print Craft Pro Fills 2, closely followed by the Print Craft
Pro Sign Blanks. Next was the Monster Wrap seamlessly tileable fills to help
feed the need of Full Body Wraps as that market segment began to emerge, and
around the same time was released Duo Chrome Print / Cut along with Wrap Wizard
and Firestorm. Then came the
Wrapture Series Full Vol. 1, 2 and 3 along with the Wrapture Half Body Wrap Vol.

To help everyone make the leap
to Adobe Photoshop for better design abilities, we released the Pro Designer
Photoshop training for vinyl, and then TileMaster, our latest special effects
seamlessly tileable fills product. And now in May 2008 Aurora Graphics is
releasing two new titles 'Digital Skullz' and 'Digital Flags' that are destined
to be huge hits in the wrapping and vinyl industry.
Flash forward to present...
Currently Aurora Graphics
also employs both of our Dorsey offspring: Erik and Grant as our main artist /
instructors / website builders / and all around great guys. Both of these young
men were born into the vinyl business and they have been around it their entire
lives helping us along the way. Now they are deeply involved in the business and
have proved to be great assets for us.
Looking to the future....
Aurora Graphics continues to
grow and has become the #1 supplier of digital art to this industry. We are
