3D Metal Machine

3D Metal Machine is very simply vehicle graphics that are ready to print/cut. Each print file is supplied in flattened LZW compressed .tiff file format. If you are having issues importing one of these files you should check to make sure that the program you are using supports LZW compression. Almost all current versions of mainstream sign making software will support this file format. The cut file for each of these graphics is supplied separately with a corresponding file name. If you are having trouble importing one of these files you should first make sure you are using a vector based software. Second you should consult the users manual for this software and find out how you are supposed to correctly import or open the file type in question. All of the cut paths will fit the corresponding print files. If it does not, one of the two files has has been altered.

When resizing the graphics it is important to import the print file and the cut file align and group them first thing. If these steps are not followed the cut path will almost definitely not fit the image. Furthermore the cut path is .003" inside the edge of the print file. This is commonly called a "bleed" and is used so that if your print/cut devise skews a little during production you won't end up with unprinted vinyl showing up around the edges where it is not supposed to. Also important to note on the issue of resizing is that the print files are raster images. There is a limit to how big you can go before a degradation in image quality  occurs. How big is too big? This will depend directly on the viewing distance of the finished job and on the program used to increase the image size as well as your abilities within that program.

Print Craft 1

Q: How do you tile Print Craft Pro Fills?

A: The Print Craft Pro Fills lineup are designed for truck door lettering, small to med size banners and basic everyday decal work that goes through a sign shop everyday. Some of the fills are tileable by mirroring them and it doesn't hurt the pattern. Others simply won't tile. Print Craft Pro Fills were not designed to tile.

Q: When I try to import the Hardware files on Print Craft 1 ie; screws, bolts, nuts, and allenheads into Signlab or Flexi or Gerber Omega, all I get is a black background (or) it crashes my program. Why is that?

A: Hardwares on PC 1 won't currently import into Flexi, SignLab, Illustrator or Gerber Omega. These hardwares are transparent .tiff which supports soft transparent shadows making the images seem more realistic. Corel Draw and Photoshop both support transparent .tiff so we suggest you use the hardwares in those software programs.

Q: When I print Silver Diamond Plate, Silver Engine Turn or anything that's primarily gray it takes on a green cast when you look at it outdoors. What's up with that?

A: Gray and Red are two colors that are very hard to hit for some RIP programs. Sometimes the gray leans towards red, other times it leans towards blue. As all RIP programs derive gray from CMYK process, yours may have a problem or issue. Recommended is contact your RIP manufacturer for an update, or buy a better RIP to get more accurate color.

Q: How do I get rid of the small 1.5" Aurora Graphics logo in the upper corner of the fill?

A: Print Craft Pro Fills are the only fills we published that have a visable watermark. To remove this mark, you can clone it out in Photoshop. In Flexi, make a rectangle using the marque tool that encompases the entire fill, minus the logo and do a MASK command. Same in SignLab only do a CLIPPING command. Same in Illustrator only do a CLIPPING PATH. In Corel it's called POWER CLIP command under the EFFECTS tab.

Q: My disk has been reading just fine, but now it won't read. What happened?

A: On rare occasion a disk will just die. Often it's been exposed to excessive heat, scratches, dropped on it's edge (separates the layers of the disk) or gets bent (not broken) but bent far enough to render the disk useless. Return the original disk and get a replacement for a small charge.

Print Craft 2

Print Craft Sign Blanks

Q: Sign Blanks have a white background. How do I get rid of that?

A: The Print Craft Pro Sign Blanks are flattened so they have a white background behind them. You can eliminate that white background easily by using the CutContour .eps file that is available in each sign blank shape folder. In Flexi place the vector .eps cutcontour file on top of the matching print sign blank, select both, then click Arrange / Mask / Mask. That will knock the background perfectly off the sign blank. In SignLab it's the same scenerio, except it's Clipping. In Corel you have both the sign blank and the vector .eps cutcontour on the screen, but not touching. Select the sign blank only, then click EFFECTS / POWER CLIP / PLACE IN CONTAINER. Then you will simply click the vector .eps cutcontour and the clipping mask will occur.

Digital Flags

Q: How do I get the white background off of the flags?

A: Digital Flags are accompanied by an .EPS file that can be used as a cut path or as a clipping mask. This will allow you to get rid of the background in a vector based program. Likewise in Photoshop the .EPS can be imported and used to make a selection area to get rid of the background.

Digital Firestorm

Q: I keep getting a black background around my flames when I import them. How do I get rid of that?

A: Transparent .tiff files won't currently import into Flexi, SignLab, Illustrator or Gerber Omega. These transparent .tiff files are useable only in programs that support soft transparent shadows making the images seem more realistic. Corel Draw and Photoshop both support transparent .tiff so we suggest you use the transparent .tiff Flames in those software programs only.

Digital Skullz

Q: I am using your Digital Skullz product and want to print / cut some of them. Is this possible?

A: Yes and no. We offer the print image and a workpath for that image. A workpath is used to knock the background off the print image if it has a white background. A workpath is just that; a workpath. You can import that workpath into your signmaking software and reduce the stroke, then make a compound out of it. This results in a fairly good cutpath, though it's not perfect. You may want to edit it somewhat if you intend to use this as a cutcontour and want perfect cutting. Digital Skullz are designed to be incorporated into a background or body wrap.

Q: When I try to import the transparent .tiff files on Digital Skullz into Signlab or Flexi or Gerber Omega, all I get is a black background (or) it crashes my program. Why is that?

A: Transparent .tiff files won't currently import into Flexi, SignLab, Illustrator or Gerber Omega. These transparent .tiff files are useable only in programs that support soft transparent shadows making the images seem more realistic. Corel Draw and Photoshop both support transparent .tiff so we suggest you use the transparent .tiff Skullz in those software programs only. Use the supplied .jpg's and the workpath in SignLab, Flexi, Illustrator and Omega, or any program that doesn't support transparent .tiff

Q: Can I change the colors of the Digital Skullz?

A: Yes, you can. This should be done in Adobe Photoshop. If you want training for Photoshop, we sell it: Pro Designer. You can buy it from any authorized Aurora Graphics distributor.

Duo Chrome

Q: When I import a Duo Chrome file it is chopped off on the ends, how do you fix that?

A: If you are using a program that does not like our print/cut .PDF file and it chops off the end you will have to import the .tiff file that comes on the disk and then import the .EPS that fits it separately. Then they will have to be aligned manually. This will fix the problem.

Q: Why does it ask me if I want to rasterize these images when I try to open them into Adobe Photoshop?

A: These are all vector line art. Photoshop is not a vector editing software so it has to change the image from line segments into a raster image which means the image is made up of pixels. You will not be able to use the images from this title to cut if you import them into Photoshop. Use a vector based software.

Monster Wrap

Q: How do I tile Monster Wrap fills?

A: You can copy and paste the images on screen and manually butt them together without seems.

Q: How do I install Monster Wrap Fills into my Fills Palette?

A: In Flexi, import a single fill. Select it, then click VIEW / COLOR / DEFINE PATTERN. The fill will become part of Flexi's fill palette. In Photoshop, do the same thing, except click EDIT / DEFINE PATTERN. Consult your software manual under FILL PALETTE or DEFINE PATTERN for further instructions.

Q: What's the resolution of Monster Wrap fills?

A: Monster Wrap fills are 300dpi. Normal full-scale output resolution of an image should be around 72dpi for excellent results. The Monster Wrap Fills are 300dpi so the user can blow them up in scale up to 400% without loss of quality. They also are tileable to any size you might need. We recommend you change the scale / resolution PRIOR to putting a Monster Fill into a Fill Palette. to avoid unnecessarily large file sizes and slow RIPing.

Q: What's the best way to change size and resolution of a Monster Wrap Fill?

A: Use Adobe Photoshop. Make sure Constrain Proportions is checked and also Resample in the File / Size dialog box in Photoshop. Use Bicubic Smoother as the interpolation setting for best results when increasing size, and Bicubic Sharper when reducing the size.

Q: What causes that little line when I try to tile a Monster Wrap fill?

A: If you change scale of the fill prior to changing the size / resolution, it can effect the outer edge of the image (1 pixel deep area of the fill.) This can be noticeable on screen and in the print. You should change scale / resolution while the layer is still locked in Photoshop prior to tiling, or tile it out first, then change the scale / resolution. This will eliminate the little outer 1 pixel edge from becoming slightly transparent.

Q: When I import a hardware off Monster Wrap, it looks like a black dot.

A: That black dot is a clipping mask. If you click on it and move it aside, you will see the hardware is behind the clipping mask, but the hardware also has a white background on it. The clipping mask is placed there for convenience for performing the clipping mask procedure. If you don't want to do the clipping mask, remove the mask and delete it. If you are using Photoshop, you will first need to remove the clipping mask in Flexi, SignLab, Corel Draw, Illustrator etc. then export the hardware without the clipping mask as an .eps. Open that .eps file in Photoshop and you will have just the hardware. Use the magic wand to delete the white background off the hardware image.

Q: I just designed a full wrap using Monster Wrap fills. Now I have a file that's as big as a barn and takes forever to save, open and RIP. What should I do?

A: Adjust the resolution to full-scale output (around 72dpi is perfect) and then tile out your wrap.

Q: My DVD won't play. What's wrong?

A: You either don't have a DVD reader or you need to download the latest version of Windows Media Player.

Q: How do you "tile" the images?

A: By making copies of the image and placing them edge to edge to form a larger fill.

Q: What causes that little line when I try to tile a Tile Master fill?

A: If you change scale of the fill prior to changing the size / resolution, it can effect the outer edge of the image (1 pixel deep area of the fill.) This can be noticeable on screen and in the print. You should change scale / resolution while the layer is still locked in Photoshop prior to tiling, or tile it out first, then change the scale / resolution. This will eliminate the little outer 1 pixel edge from becoming slightly transparent.

Wrapture Full Body Wraps

Q: Where are the hood and tail pieces?

A: The Wrapture Series is comprised of side images only for a reason. First of all the hoods and rears of vehicles are so different in size and shape it would undoubtedly not fit but one or two models. Also by leaving this design up to the user it allows for a more custom output.

Wrapture half Body Wraps

Q: How do you resize the images to fit a specific car and still maintain the bleed that originally comes with the file?

A: Import both the print and cut files together, align them, group them and then scale them both together.

Q: When I import the barbed wire or lightning I get a black background around it. Why is that?

A: Transparent .tiff files won't currently import into Flexi, SignLab, Illustrator or Gerber Omega. These transparent .tiff files are useable only in programs that support soft transparent shadows and allows the image to have no background making the images seem more realistic and easier to use. Corel Draw and Photoshop both support transparent .tiff so we suggest you use the transparent .tiff files in those software programs only.
